White Council Public Forum / OT: Blu Ray Encoding
January 03, 2012, 01:36:01 AM
Hey guys and gals,

Merry Xmas,

Well Im a little tired of sending DVDs back to Disney to get replaced, so Im going to be ripping Noahs Movies to a USB HDD, to plug into his TV. We have a few movies done now, but Id like to rip off the blu rays. Its much easier then trying to use his DVD player, and getting discs wrecked etc. So ill be encoding in H264, (TV accepts H264, Mpeg4, or DivX).

I have AnyDVD, and also Handbrake. I also have MakeMKV. Though to be honest I have no idea what im doing. Id like to rip just the movie, from say Dreamworks logo etc, to credits. Id like to maintain the quality. Right now he has a 1TB USB HDD, but I also have a 3TB network drive, and will add more, but even if each movie is 8GB-10GB for 1080p blu ray, and say 1GB for DVDs, there is a lot of room. He might have 20 Movies.

Anyone know what settings to use in any of these programs, or any tips, or other programs I should get? I tried to rip Rio last night off his blu-ray, I used AnyDVD to rip the movie to the drive, then converted it from MT2S (or whatever) to H264, but the % quality wasnt showing in handbrake etc. The movie spit out at just under 4GB, so i know its not going to be right. Id expect a movie @1080 to be much larger. I was going to rip them at 720, but for the little bit of storage space, it doesnt matter, id rather have them at full size, so when I get the new TV, it looks just as good on there. I can always buy more 3TB live drives with the company, and use the network to stream them to the TV.

I wouldnt ever expect me to return. Sherry put the nail in that coffin. She fell in love with a dress from Kleinfields in NY (say yes to the dress) so any less the 14hrs a day till death just won't do.

It was the guild that kept me around for the last year. Good people, and always someone to help. I just hope the character I left behind is still a help when the guild needs the skills.

I found UO, from a game point, easy to leave. It's one of the better games still, why people still play. I would have left for df online if I had the time. But of course my job puts me under a lot of pressure and a lot of hours. But I knew that taking it.

Its the people that were siege and WC that made me sad to leave.

Go see righty, he has a bunch of Arties to make suits from that I gave him.

But if the whole shard comes together, or 100s of posters on uhall band together to bash mythic devs, isn't that a community coming together? Seems like building and bonding to me lol

Gotta love a site that licks the hole of the dev team on a 13+ year old game that's slowly dwindling in population.

Lol, it's hard to slim down in this game, alway more stuff to horde, and more space needed.

If the wife did pick out the ht2513prb maybe I could fly some people down lol.

Was funny the sales woman (same as engagement ring) gave us a blanket with the order (25th anniversary of store), I thanked her for it. Told her it was very good that they gave us the blanket. Because with what they have taken me for on the rings, I have to turn the heat off, and the blanket will keep my kids warm this winter.

Never saw such a blank look on someone's face. No idea what to say lol.

But yes they grow like weeds.

Well it's been quiet a while since I popped it say hello. So let have a roll call.
How is siege? How is the wc? How is Jesus doing (believe he underwent a transformation)
I have been quite busy. Work is nuts. In fact I posting from an hour in the woods, on my iPhone, that I need a cell booster to even get service. It's -22c and I'm not ready.

I have still been working on renos when I can. Will be getting a new house next year. The family needs more room. Noah is still a monster. He is 2-1/2 now. Liam is 4 months and also a big boy.

I bought myself a new business desktop for doing my invoicing...
I5 2500k, msi z68a-gd65 (g3), 16gb ddr3 1333, msi twin frozr ii 2gb 6950, Asus blu-ray burner, m4 128gb ssd, 2x hitachi 7k1000.d hard drives, Noctura nh-d14, all stuffed inside a raven 2 evolution, being shown on asus vg-236he. Should run excel spreadsheets at a reasonable frame rate. Lol. Still waiting on desk.

Bought sherry's wedding band last night. So we are gonna talk to a travel agent and set a date. Thinking around feb 10ish 2012. She wants to go to sandals nagral (sp?) in Jamaica. Kids resort with water park and sesame street characters.

Not much else is new. I'll try and pop in more often. Especially when I get the office together.

I believe the biggest ever caught (and im sure the max) was 255 Stones. Though it was on a prodo shard, so IDK the largest on siege.

Mom is a safety Nazi, he wont be allowed within 100 miles of the fire, without being held onto.
