We took second in yesterday's MSR contest. Remarkable considering we blew the intro. On to Perth today for round two.

So yesterday (Wednesday), I was in London with Hoffs...  That's Hoffs on the left... I'm on the right...  In case you were wondering.

It was a great chance to catch up with him again. He even rescued my phone from the boat.... Our day ended with 10 miles of walking under our belts.  Now, I'm up in Glasgow hanging out with these guys...

Hi Everyone

As some of you know, I am competing with a bagpipe band from Vermont in the World Pipeband Championships this coming August in Glasgow Scotland.  While my personal financial outlay is pretty low, the band is raising several thousands of dollars to pay for things like our rooms, busses to and from competitions, instructors, entry fees, etc...

We are having a raffle. You can buy tickets for $2 and only for the items you are actually interested in.  Some of the items are very bagpiping centric, but there are some other pieces of handmade jewelry, a keurig coffee maker and other things.  You can buy tickets online at our website: http://www.catamountpipeband.org/Catamount_Pipe_Band/CPB_Worlds_Raffle.html

Just wanted to let you guys know that I am fine. I appreciate so many of you sending messages to check on me. I drove up to Maine on Sunday, and frankly I'm glad to be out of the area for a few days. We had actually briefly discussed heading into Boston for the marathon before deciding to head north instead. Funny how that works out. I've heard from several friends who live in that area of Boston or were in the area just prior to the explosions. One was even standing in that exact spot two hours prior and posted a picture on Facebook that is now somewhat chilling  to look at. She has since compiled a DVD full of her pictures and videos and forwarded them over to the FBI.

A former students picture of the explosion was picked up by CNN just after, he is also ok.

Boston has always been a fairly safe city with a relatively low crime rate. It blows my mind that has happened.

I'm saturated with news reports and I'm going to take advantage of the beautiful weather to do some hiking in Acadia National Park to clear my head.
